Free safe rides will be offered to would-be drunk drivers throughout the Washington metropolitan area by a local nonprofit organization during the winter holidays beginning Dec. 20. The 2019 Holiday SoberRide program will be in operation nightly, 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. from Dec. 20, 2019, to Jan. 1, 2020. The program is offered by the nonprofit Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP). It is intended as a way to keep local roads safe from impaired drivers during this traditionally high-risk holiday.
