In honor of the women’s suffrage centennial, Torpedo Factory is presenting a new exhibit. On Aug. 18, 1920, the 19th amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified, to guarantee women the right to vote. Alexandria Celebrates Women, a local nonprofit, has been commemorating the centennial throughout 2020.
As per alextimes.com, “As part of the celebration, ACW partnered with the Torpedo Factory Artists’ Association to present “WE VOTE!” an exhibit featuring an array of women’s suffrage-inspired art, voting rights history, voter registration information, and a life-size suffragist backdrop, according to a news release. The art and history exhibit will run at the Marian Van Landingham Gallery at the Torpedo Factory Art Center through Sept. 27. The exhibit is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.”
